Iridology

What is Iridology?

It is the science of analyzing the markings of the colored part of the eyes, called irid (plural of iris). A trained practitioner of Iridology gains clear insight into a person’s inherited flaws and levels of health. Studying a person’s irid can reveal inflammation wherever it occurs in the body, at any stage from slight to acute.
Since Biblical times, the eyes have been portrayed as being the window to the soul, and now we observe that they are also the mirrors of the body. Even in the past, many physicians have studied the eyes of their patients to find the state of their health. Now we can appreciate that the irid are like micro computers which, when properly analyzed, give insight into the body’s condition. Iridology is a tool that is used in the discovery of a person’s health, or un-health.

The Beginning
A long time ago, a young man was playing in his garden when he caught an owl. Naturally the bird struggled to get free, and during the tussle, its leg was accidentally broken. As the two stared into each other’s eyes, the boy noted a black stripe appearing in the bird’s eye, the same side as the broken leg. No doubt feeling remorseful, the 11-year-old Ignatz von Peczely took care of the owl until it was healed, and then released it. The bird lived in the garden for a few more years, giving Ignatz the chance to observe that white and crooked lines began to overshadow the black stripe, and he saw the black spot fading almost completely, with time.

This young man from Egervar, Hungary, was destined to become a physician in the early 1800s, and always remembered the owl. He worked in the surgical ward of a college hospital, which allowed him to observe people’s eyes, and particularly how the irid changed after accidents, and before and after surgeries. He found a relationship between the markings in the irises and the rest of the body. Von Peczely was sure that there is a reflex correlation, that the irid reflect changes in the different organs of the body. Because of what he found, he was the first to create a chart of the irid.

IRIDOLOGY has greatly progressed since then, with many scientists and doctors conducting research and, throughout the years, improving upon the charts of those who came before them. In the United States, Dr. Bernard Jensen was the pioneer of the Science of Iridology. He developed one of the most complete irid charts which is the most accurate even today, showing the location of the body’s organs as they are mirrored in the irises of the eyes.

Here's how it works
“The iris is connected to every organ and tissue of the body by way of the brain and nervous system.. . . In this way, Nature has provided us with a miniature television screen showing the most remote portions of the body by way of nerve reflex responses. We are discovering that the eye works in two ways; not only does it
enable us to bring images of the outside world within, it also shows images of what is within to the outside.
Nerve fibers in the iris respond to changes in body tissue. . .”

From time to time Joanie offers classes in Iridology, specifically, how to read and interpret the markings and colorations in the irid. We take it a step further, learning about nutrition and herbs which can help restore people to good health.

Joanie also uses this accurate Iridology tool during the Health Profiles she does. These sessions are completely personalized for you. You’ll find the strong and weak aspects of your health - what are your assets and what you need to concentrate on.
