Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the method of using
plant oils, called essential oils, to bring about physical and emotional
health. It’s a pleasant herbal therapy which uses the perfumed medicinal
properties of special plants to help heal various physical, emotional and
psychological imbalances.
These highly-fragranced, highly concentrated oils are usually
steam-distilled from the flowers, leaves, bark, seeds, roots, resins or
fruit peels of many different plants, used for different types of therapies.
One word of caution –
always use REAL essential oils (NOT fragrance oils) if you want to receive
real therapy.
There are two methods to use essential oils: either absorbed through the
skin during massage, or inhaled through the nose.
Essential oils that are massaged onto the skin are usually diluted in
carrier oils such as olive, sweet almond, or jojoba. The amount of essential
oils used is about 10 to 15 drops for every ounce of carrier oil.
Aromatherapy is useful for treating minor health problems. But for more
serious ailments, or if you are unsure what is wrong, be sure to talk to a
qualified Aromatherapy practitioner.
Here are two ideas for scented therapy.
1.FOR STRESS RELIEF, STRESS HEADACHES, ETC.: Inhale Lavender straight, or
apply the oil, one drop to a temple or the back of your neck. An
extra-effective stress-buster is a mixture of
Lavender,
Bergamot,
Jasmine,
Sweet Marjoram,
Neroli and
Basil, or a combination of
any of the above, applied by massage, or inhaled.
2. FOR ARTHRITIC JOINTS, MUSCLE PAIN or SPRAINS, for FATIGUE, to CLEAR
ALLERGIES, SINUSES, for EARACHE, any SKIN WOUND, INSECT BITE, and COLDS: Tei
Fu blend
